Your engine choke may be (double check): ELECTRONIC FUEL MANAGEMENT (EFM) (EFM system controls choke during engine start-up and warm-up. Mower needs just 1 throttle cable and no choke cable needed.)
If after checking your engine/mower choke and the above is correct, your 1st option is to buy a ELECTRONIC FUEL MANAGEMENT (EFM)
If you can't find your EFM Engine here. Your 1st option is to buy a READY START engine. If that is not available, buy a CHOKE/THROTTLE COMBINED engine or other alternative choke engine and deal with the engine choke accordingly. It is not the end of the world.
Check the picture below to see if you have an EFM engine to let us know if this is not correct

| As always, if in doubt or the information here is not correct, please contact us FIRST. Your current engine on your mower may looks similar to one of the Reference Pictures below. |
NOTICE: Look like (please look on your engine to double check) you have a Briggs & Stratton engine with an ELECTRONIC FUEL MANAGEMENT (EFM) system (EFM engine). We don't have (or rarely have) this engine. We don't think the manufacturer makes this kind of engine anymore. If you don't see any EFM engine here, please see our alternative engines here and pick one accordingly. If you want auto choke engine, your best option is READY START engine. See options below.- If you buy a READY START (auto choke) engine here (if available) you won't have to worry about choking the engine manually.
- If you buy a CHOKE/THROTTLE COMBINED engine, you may be able to connect your mower's throttle cable to the engine's control to do both choke and throttle. After connecting your mower throttle control cable to the engine's CHOKE/THROTTLE COMBINED control, the engine will be choked if you push the mower throttle control lever all the way up before starting the engine. After the engine started you will pull the throttle control lever down a little bit to get to full throttle or at the any level for your desired engine speed.
- If you buy a SEPARATE MANUAL CHOKE engine, you will need to install a mower choke cable control on your mower if it does not have one.
