Your exact original engine may not be available because it may: be too old to be in production or discontinued due to some EPA regulations.

Our engines on this page have the following similarities. Choose the engine HP and the displacement (cc) accordingly to fit your needs:
    1. Bolt pattern - The mounting hole pattern are the same.
    2. The dimmension.
    3. Muffler configuration is the same (you can reuse your old muffler)
    4. Although spent a lot of time to carefully study about your engine, prepare, review, and compose this page to believe that your engine crankshaft size is 1-1/8" diameter x 4-5/16" length, it is still your responsibility to measure your engine crankshaft to double check if it is the same.

Other minor things that you may have to do when you buy the long block to replace your engine including but not limited to: transfer your wire harness from your old engine to the new one if it is not the same (most of these have similar wire harness though), tap/thread the mounting holes (as most of brand new engines did not have the mounting holes threaded/tapped by the manufacturer) etc..

Your engine choke is (double check): SEPARATE MANUAL CHOKE (Mower needs 2 control cables, 1 for choke and 1 for throttle)

Your engine has a SOLENOID SHIFT STARTER (built-on solenoid electric starter). Buy our engine with a Solenoid Shift Starter (if available) on the right. If none is available, buy other engine and you will have to transfer your old engine's solenoid shift starter over.

If after checking your engine/mower choke and the above is correct, your 1st option is to buy a SEPARATE MANUAL CHOKE engine or 2nd option SMART CHOKE engine.

USE KOHLER CONFIDANT or 7000 SERIES ENGINE (ZT710 to ZT740 or KT715 to KT745) TO REPLACE KOHLER COURAGE ENGINE THAT HAS A SOLENOID ON ITS ELECTRIC STARTER - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING...

When using a NEWER ENGINE (KOHLER CONFIDANT (ZT710 to ZT740) or 7000 SERIES (KT715 to KT745) ) to replace the OLDER ENGINE (Twin Cylinder Kohler Courage Engine), you will have to the following minor tasks including, but not limited to:
  1. If the NEW ENGINE does not have a built-on solenoid electric starter, transfer the electric starter from the OLDER ENGINE to the NEWER ENGINE because the electric starter on the NEWER ENGINE may not have a solenoid or install an external starter solenoid for the NEWER ENGINE . If the NEWER ENGINE's electric starter has built-in solenoid, you can skip this step.

  2. You will also have compare the NEWER ENGINE AND OLDER ENGINE's wire harness side by side to reconfigure the wires on the NEWER ENGINE to make sure they are all line up as the OLDER ENGINE.

  3. There may be some other minor modifications that you may have to do.

  4. The mounting hole patterns of the Kohler 7000 Series engine and Kohler Command engine are the same. You won't have to drill any mounting holes on your mower's deck. Just tap/thread the engine's mounting holes if they (most) are not tapped.

  5. We had customer(s) who did this and made it worked before.
